" I know for sure: Your journey begins with a choice to get up, step out, and live fully."
For those of you that are avid readers of my blog, you know that self-love and discovery is a HUGE topic for me. This to me is what it always comes back. What we think of ourselves. You know? If someone asked you right now what do you think of yourself, would you say a bunch of negative stuff before you got to the amazing qualities you have? Would you even know where to start? See these are things we have to know and have to be okay with before with start seeking validation from others. Self-love is a journey in itself, a journey that should be never-ending. Oprah has been through many different journeys in her life, and through it, all self-love was the root of all her pain, issues, success, and choices. This is true for everyone.
The journey of self-love isn't always pretty, which is something I learned from reading What I Know for Sure by Oprah Winfrey. Through this book, Oprah spoke about all these moments and different chapters in her life that always brought her back to the same truth. It was the truth we all share. The truth that we all seek love and comfort. The truth that this need and longing is where our behavior stems from.
" What I know for sure is that a lack of intimacy is not distance from someone else; it is disregard for yourself"
Yes, we all want to love and comfort, this we all know. However, we cannot receive or give the love we want properly if we do not tend to the love we have for ourselves first. From reading this, I gained a new sense of myself and my worth. It made me appreciate every aspect of myself more. It made me delve into certain thoughts more and build upon them. Thoughts that I wanted to share with you guys.
1. What I know for sure is that ego will destroy anything. If you let it.
This I know, because I have let my ego and pride destroy things in my life. I've spoken about my past relationship on here before, and ego was one of the contributors to the end of that relationship. Where love exists, the ego cannot. When you allow a place for ego, you allow a place for negativity to thrive. Ego is easy to feed, but so is love as long as you are willing...this I know for sure.
2. What I know for sure is that intentions speak louder than actions.
This I know, because from an early age I realized " I've said sorry why isn't that enough?" wasn't enough. It wasn't enough because there was no genuine intent behind it, it was just a bad habit the person had picked up. Intention can be clear if you pay attention. When you pick up on it, you should pick up on your intent for things as well. Often times are intents aren’t as pure as we think. What I know for sure is that really listening to yourself, and your body can go a long way... so trust yourself
3. What I know for sure, is that everything serves its purpose, even when we don't understand it.
This I know, because life has a way of coming full circle for us. Pieces of our lives that didn't once fit, slowly do. This is because you can't make room for life's offerings when you have no room to offer...and this I know.
What I really know though, is that I'm only 20, which means my journey has only begun and I have so much more to learn. This I know is certain.
